Advanced Paediatric Nurse now working in Central North
Central North cluster are soon to have a new service for children.
The Children's Ambulatory Care service aims to treat children with minor illnesses more quickly, improving access to care and bringing care closer to home .
Jo Robertson, who is an Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner, has joined the service after working in Liverpool Walk-In Centres for the past 15 years. The last seven years of those were based within the children's walk-in-centre, seeing and treating children with a wide range of minor illnesses and ailments.
With 26 years experience behind her, Jo will be leading the clinical arm of the project treating children who need to be seen on the day of illness.
Jo describes the service: "The Children's Ambulatory Service works starts with the parent or carer of the child calling their GP practice as normal. The receptionist will listen to the child's symptoms and if they are eligible, will offer an appointment with me, that same day, at Orford Jubilee Hub.
"I've worked in paediatric care for many years and know that this kind of service is very important to parents who are worried about their little ones and feel they need to see a medical professional quickly.
"I hope this service will help improve care for poorly children and provide another care option for parents and relieve pressure on GP services."
The work of the team is progressing at a great pace. Keep checking back for updates on this new and important service.
