National Evaluation of Prime Minister's Challenge Fund

Last week, NHS England published the results of the independent national evaluation of The first-wave of the Prime Minister’s Challenge Fund (PMCF) of which Warrington was a part.

The report is available on the NHS England website - you can see it here.

The evaluation report paints a positive picture of the progress made by the twenty first-wave PMCF sites. The independent evaluation report about Warrington is expected to be available in the next week or so.

We have seen achieved some incredible progress and learning over the last 18 months that will inform future services. Through work to date, we have developed seven clusters and now have GPs working together between practices; improved integrated working with partners; developed multi-disciplinary team working; and now have a much stronger voice for primary care in the local health and social care system.

Within the national evaluation report, Warrington is one of three PMCF pilot sites credited for its “deliberate ambition to use the Challenge Fund to create sustainable systems for the future of primary care delivery. These pilots saw PMCF as part of wider or more longterm transformational change rather than an opportunity to increase GP transactions or experiment with new access modes. Therefore they have purposefully used Challenge Fund investment to set up structures that will outlive the official lifetime of the pilot.”

This achievement is down to the hard work and commitment of primary care staff throughout Warrington; and to the foresight and support of Warrington CCG in supporting our PMCF bid.

A big thank you to everyone who has played a part in our achievements.
