Warrington Borough Council is reminding residents to keep an eye on their blood pressure.

There are close to 21,000 people in Warrington who have high blood pressure and don’t know it, so the council is launching a summer campaign to encourage residents to take control and reduce their blood pressure.

Having high blood pressure puts you at increased risk of heart disease and strokes, so it’s really important to keep a check on your blood pressure to avoid serious illness.

You can have high blood pressure without having any symptoms, so the only way to know for sure if your blood pressure is high is to have it checked.

There are a number of ways you can easily check your blood pressure. Many pharmacies in Warrington offer blood pressure checks and you can even check your blood pressure at home if you have a good quality blood pressure monitor.

This summer, blood pressure checks will be offered at various community events taking place, both on the iVan and as part of a Lifestyle Check delivered by LiveWire.

These will be taking place at the following:

Howley Carnival, Saturday 18 July

MELA, Palmyra Square, Sunday 2 August

Woolston Show, Sunday 6 September
